David Frampton David Frampton has been an illustrator for nearly 30 years and has been especially attracted to doing illustrations for children's books. He has also been the author and illustrator of a collection of children’s stories and author/illustrator of a book based on a poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. His method of illustration is always color woodcut – simple, in his self imposed limit of four colors, but complex in the planning and execution of the narrative images. One of the reasons he enjoys doing the woodcuts is that “you can see the process in the picture itself…it’s direct. “  There is a handmade quality to his illustrations that is perhaps inherent in the carving out of the design into the woodblock. Frampton studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design. He is the author and illustrator of The Whole Night Through and Mr. Ferlinghetti’s Poem. Among the books he has illustrated are Guide to Imaginary Birds of the World, Riding the Tiger, Bull Run, At Jerusalem’s Gate, and The Song of Francis and the Animals. His publishers are Harper Collins and Eerdman’s Books for Young Readers. Four color woodcut Signed in pencil in the lower right margin Image size  6” x 8” This may have been an original illustration for one of his books since it is signed, but an edition # is not present. $175.00
